A love story about dogs, horses and family.
Our first Pembroke Welsh Corgi became a member of our family over 15 years ago, I was totally hooked. The breeds "Joie de Vivre", clown like and slightly naughty behavior is simply irresistible. My dogs are raised in my home and I feel temperament, soundness and beautiful breed type is of paramount importance. I am a member in good standing of PWCCA and PWCCWR where I act as Corresponding Secretary and have served as Show Chairman.
My late husband Neil and I met in college when I was 20 and he was 22. We were both on the pre-med path and although we dated in college we were more focused on our studies in medical school, but remained great friends. Our senior year of medical school in Philadelphia (1986-1987), we decided we were destined to be together and started dating again. We became engaged during our internship year and got married in 1988. We bought our farm in 1991, just prior to completing our residencies. It was the beginning of our Cherrydale Manor Morgan Horses and would become the home of the Beaumanor Corgis.
Neil loved all animals and had a particular fondness for our Corgis, he enjoyed supporting me in my endeavors with showing horses and dogs and would frequently drive our coach to a show sight and fly home to work, just to fly back and drive me home. Neil Herrick was the kindest, most supportive husband a girl could ask for. Though he didn’t share my competitive spirit, he would always say “when you win, someone else has to lose”—that was just his kind nature, he never questioned my goals but always supported my dreams. Although Neil left this earth far too soon in October of 2014, the kindness and energy he left behind continue to guide me and support me in my life.
I have been involved with Morgan Horses for 43 years. I have been blessed to breed multiple World and Grand National Champions. Pictured is WC Cherrydale Casseopia. She holds 7 Grand National and World Champion titles. Please visit our Morgan site at: www.cherrydalemanor.com
